Veteran Actor Shakeel Passes Away at the age of 85
Renowned veteran actor Shakeel, of Uncle Urfi and Ankahi fame has passed away at the age of 85, after an illness. According to reports he had been hospitalized for the past four days due to arthritis and heart complications. Kamal Yousuf mostly known by his stage name ‘Shakeel’, a veteran in the Pakistani entertainment industry, left an unforgettable legacy with his exceptional performances in both television and film. The funeral for the departed will be held today after Asar prayers.
Shakeel Ahmed was a gifted actor who entertained audiences with his extraordinary talent. Born on May 29, 1938, the actor was highly respected for his acting prowess. The star is known particularly for his exceptional work in the popular PTV drama series "Uncle Urfi".
Other popular yesteryear shows that Shakeel had been part of included, Intizar Farmaiye, Zer Zabar Pesh, Afshan, Anna, Uroosa, and Angan Terha. He continued to be seen on screen in the recent times with notable performances in Dil e Muztar, Udaari and Sila.
In addition to his remarkable contributions to Pakistani television and film, Shakeel Yousuf achieved international acclaim with the biographical English film "Jinnah" (1998). This milestone in his career featured him portraying the role of Liaquat Ali Khan, Pakistan's first Prime Minister, alongside the renowned Christopher Lee.
Acknowledging his outstanding talent, Shakeel Kamal Yousuf received the prestigious Pride of Performance award in 1992, a testament to his remarkable achievements. Furthermore, his exceptional abilities were recognized when he was nominated for the 1st Indus Drama Awards in 2005, specifically in the category of Best Actor Drama Series in a Supporting Role.
