Here's what everyone is saying about the KRQ & Marvi Sarmad spat

Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar has now abused on national television, and social media has lost it. During a live broadcast, drama writer and poet Khalil Ur Rehman, when interrupted by journalist and activist Marvi Sarmad with #MeraJismMeriMarzi, lost all decency and went on to abuse the panelist.

The use of foul language on national television is in no way justified. Celebrities and netizens were quick to react to this spat between KRQ and Marvi. While the men appreciated how KRQ handled the situation, abusing and humiliating a woman on television, others rightly slammed him, in favor of Marvi.

I am shocked at what I have just heard and seen!! Sick to the core. This same man who abused a woman on tv is revered and given project after project because of what? We are as much to blame if not more for perpetuating this thinking! #khalilurrehmanqamar

says, Mahira Khan.

In another tweet she said:

I personally think it’s imperative that those that stand with the idea of standing up for your rights should write and speak with clarity. A lot gets lost when we try to match jahaaalat with jahaalat, abuse with abuse. There MUST be a difference.

Nabeel Qureshi tweeted:

I have not seen such a JAAHIL insan like #khalilurrehmanqamar who the hell he thinks he is ? News channel invite him, so that he ends up uttering some nonsense and they can fetch some TRPs ! shame on tv channels & Khalil ! Disgraceful

Haroon Shahid also shared his views on the disgraceful incident:

Just saw the obnoxious incident between Khalil Saab and Marvi Sirmad. I see people writing "You can't talk to a lady like that" and that's where the problem lies. It's not a matter of gender. You can't talk to ANYONE like that! Not even an animal. Khalil Saab is a disgrace

Senator Sherry Rehman also felt the need to respond to the situation. She said:

I will not accept any show on @NeoTv_Network until this anchor apologizes and this abusive man boycotted. If others ( men and women ) do the same when asked for shows this kind of disrespect to women may not get impunity. Women’s rights are human rights. Enough of this nonsense

What are your thoughts about the incident?
