Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay Episode 11 Review: Slow Developments in the Story

The episode was slow and the repetitive flashbacks made it all the more boring

After Kubra Khan’s exit, Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay is now advancing at a snail’s pace.

Last night’s episode was no less than a drag, with little development and centering more around how Mehreen (Mahira Khan) is surviving around a group of people, all against her....

Let’s take a quick review of what happened yesterday in the drama and how Aswad’s (Usman Mukhtar) character is turning unbearable with every passing episode.

A blinded Aswad and a tearful Mehreen

A hullabaloo has erupted now that Mehreen has gotten bail. No one is happy about it, not even Aswad who is the one who paid a whopping amount of money to get his cousin out of the mess. Shagufta (Zainab Qayoom) and Tahir (Ali Tahir) are burning with rage, now that Mehreen is no more behind bars.

But this is just the start of Mehreen’s misery. While she is crying her eyes out at one moment, Aswad starts screaming at her for being the culprit behind everyone's anguish. Poor Mehreen just stares at him, lost in the past and having flashbacks of what happened that night. Aswad says some bitter things and we realize that this is just the beginning of his nasty side.

There is a scene where Mehreen gets an anxiety attack and searches for her inhaler. Aswad enters and is of very little help to the breathless person beside him. So much so, Mehreen needs to be taken to the hospital. But Aswad thinks that his cousin is all about lies and manipulation. Mashal might have died but her words have left an everlasting impact on Aswad, who now is blinded by all the hateful things the deceased had told him. He keeps having flashbacks of all the sweet things Mashal did for him and asked for. Guilt is eating him and he is taking out all his frustration on the weakest soul around him- Mehreen.

Poor Mehreen aims to compensate for Aswad’s bail money with a meager amount of gold she has. She even contacts Saffan to update him that she is out of jail and her Saleha Khala (Huma Nawab) wants to have a word with him.

Apparently, Aswad wants Mehreen out of his home and believes his cousin’s marriage with Saffan is the solution. What surprised us was Saleha’s reaction to this whole situation. Initially, she is the one who pressurized her son to marry Mehreen. Now that Mashal is dead, she realizes that she can no more force Aswad to tie the knot with his cousin.

The promo of the upcoming episode didn’t seem so enticing. Maybe we will find out what really happened that night when Mashal died. Let’s wait and watch.

Mahira Khan raises the bar

We all know how critics openly claim Mahira Khan’s performances as weak in most projects. But without a doubt, the star has raised her acting game in Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay. We cry for Mehreen when Mahira is all tears on screens and we are as breathless as her during her asthma attacks.

The actress has accurately described her character's helplessness and agony. On the other hand, Usman Mukhtar really needs to level up and show some diversity in his acting. The same somber, serious expressions are becoming tiresome to watch. The episode this week was slow and the repetitive flashbacks made it all the more boring. Here’s to hoping that the plot progresses and there is a significant development in the story.
